School Site Council

School-based decision-making is the responsibility of the School Site Council. The SSC is composed of parents, teachers, and the headmaster. It approves school rules, the Quality School Plan (QSIP), and the budget for discretionary school materials. It may determine graduation requirements and can request waivers from some Boston Public School policies. The Personnel Subcommittee of the SSC approves the hiring and in-district transfers of teachers and must have at least one parent member.

Meetings and Minutes

The School Site Council typically meets on the first Tuesday of the month, at 4:30 p.m. in the Hapgood Library (on the first floor, across from BLA’s main entrance).

Meetings are open to the public. We welcome input from families and community members.
