Parents

SPC Banner SmallPlease visit this parent-run website—created by BLA parents, for BLA parents! It lets you access parent-specific resources, use an online parent directory, find out about upcoming parent and school-based events, learn about parent engagement at BLA, and much more!

All parents and guardians of BLA students are automatically members of the School Parent Council (SPC), which works to foster communication between parents, teachers, and the administration at Boston Latin Academy and the Boston School Committee. (Similar organizations at other schools are often called Parent-Teacher Organizations.)

The SPC meets monthly, on the first Tuesday of the month from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Hapgood Library (on the first floor, across from BLA’s main entrance). The Headmaster’s Update is given at 6:30 p.m.

By attending meetings, members have an opportunity to:

  • address their concerns with the Headmaster and other members
  • develop strategies to improve the quality of education
  • make a major impact on the success of children at the school

The SPC has recently updated its bylaws; they are online here.
