School Parent Council

All parents and guardians of BLA students are automatically members of the School Parent Council (SPC), which is sometimes known as the PTO in other schools. The mission of the SPC is to foster communication between parents, teachers, and the administration at Boston Latin Academy and the Boston Public School Committee. The SPC promotes a sense of community at the school and supports the school’s mission of providing a rigorous college-preparatory program to all students. Come just to listen or to voice your concerns, questions, and ideas. By attending SPC meetings, you can make a major impact on life at BLA and the success of our children.

The SPC meets monthly, usually on the first Tuesday of the month from 6:30-8:30pm in the Hapgood Library (1st floor, across from BLA’s main entrance).

The next SPC meeting is Tuesday, March 6 at the BLA Library at 6:30 p.m. There will be a special guest: Alice Levine, Family Education Coordinator, BPS Office of Family and Student Engagement. She will be discussing the BPS Parent School program.

By attending meetings, members have an opportunity to:

  • hear updates from the Headmaster and other faculty members
  • address their concerns with the Headmaster and other members present
  • develop strategies to improve the quality of education
  • make a major impact on the success of children at the school
